Last year the Animur Festival received a record number of submissions — 2,300 from 102 countries around the world, making it the largest animation event in Russia. From November 1 to 4, 2024, the competition program featured 105 films from 27 countries. In total, the audience could watch 200 animated short films and series, 63 of which were world premieres. The festival has attracted more than 7,500 viewers during the four days. Over 40 representatives of the animation industry from around the world participated in the festival activities as guests. Moreover, the legendary animation studio Soyuzmultfilm joined the Animur festival as the festival’s general partner in 2024.
"We are witnessing the birth of an animation industry in the Russian Far East Not that long ago, animation studios and schools began to emerge here and local animators started work on their projects. Animur has become a point of attraction, a beacon for both seasoned and emerging creators, studios, and audiences. Animur is our Far Eastern ‘Oscar,' a declaration of love for the art of animation. It is a dialogue of cultures, a chance for creators from around the world to express themselves, and for audiences to see and understand their work," says Alexandra Dubovskaya, Director of Animur.
This year, the international competition is open to short animated films and animated series produced no earlier than 2023. The 2025 competition program will feature animated works from the Asia-Pacific region, Southeast Asia, and Russia.
Animated films from other parts of the world will be showcased in the festival’s non-competitive program. "Animur is a unique international competition that combines both the traditions of the Russian animation school and the culture of Asian countries. We always curate a program that will satisfy even the most discerning viewer. In addition to the international competition of professional and student animation, the IV Animur will also host Animur.Kids — a competition of children’s animation creativity — as well as a pitching session for projects from young teams living in the Khabarovsk Krai and other regions of the Far East and Arctic. The best projects will be included in the annual animation almanac DVIZHBA," says Alyona Sychyova, Program Director of the Animur Festival.
The International animation film Festival Animur is held with the support of the Government of the Khabarovsk Krai.
